Handcrafted in Norway
Where Honest Architecture is Forged.
At the heart of our brand lies The Workshop—the place where the intellectual work of The Studio meets the physical reality of the craft. Located in Drammen, Norway, our workshop is a space of transparency, intentionality and sawdust.
We don’t believe in mass production. Every grain and every joint is handled by a person, ensuring that the integrity of the material is preserved from the first cut to the final hand-finish. It is a slow process, because honesty cannot be rushed.

WHY BAMBOO?
Nature’s Engineering at its Peak.
We chose bamboo not just for its aesthetic, but for its structural superiority. Often referred to in our workshop as “Green Steel,” it is nature’s most resilient building material.
• The Hardness Metric: Moso Bamboo is significantly denser than traditional hardwoods, with a Janka hardness rating of up to 3,000 lbf—surpassing White Oak (1,360 lbf) and Teak (1,155 lbf).
• The Structural Metric: With a tensile strength of 28,000 PSI, bamboo outperforms steel (23,000 PSI) in its ability to resist tension.
• The 5-vs-80 Math: While an Oak tree takes 80 years to mature, bamboo reaches its full structural strength in just five. It is the fastest carbon sink on the planet, releasing 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.
OUR PRINCIPLES
01. The 50-Year Philosophy
We don’t build for the short term. Most people expect a kitchen to last ten years; we build ours for fifty. We view our furniture as a permanent fixture of the house—a legacy piece that outlasts trends.
02. Tactile Integrity
The aesthetic can be mimicked, but the material purity cannot. Most mass-market furniture “off-gasses” synthetic chemicals into your home. We hand-finish every piece with natural oils because your home should be a recovery space, not a source of chemical exposure.
03. Green Steel
Oak takes eighty years to grow; bamboo takes five. It is the fastest carbon sink on the planet. By building with it, we physically lock that carbon into your home for the next half-century.
04. Architectural Asset Value
An Ask og Eng interior is a preservation of capital. Because we are a recognized design signature, the work functions as a tangible architectural asset that adds real, recognized value to your property.
05. The Slow Craft Manifesto
Every grain and every joint is handled by a person in our Norwegian workshop, not a machine on an assembly line. It simply takes the time it takes to do it honestly. We refuse to rush the craft at the expense of the result.
